In my experience, Art Club is a great way to meet new people who have at least one common interest. In the words of the fabulous Mrs. Hanenkrat herself, “Art Club is a student-led group for DHS students who have a love and appreciation of the visual arts.”
A new person or freshman going to the Art Club can expect a large, friendly environment, tons of people who also love any type of art, and a group that will accept you and be happy to get to know anyone new.
“If someone wants to be part of Art Club all they have to do is attend one of our meetings and sign up for the Art Club Google Classroom and Remind. Members can participate in as many or as few of the activities as they want,” Mrs. Hanenkrat said.
“Our plans for this year include window painting downtown this fall, designing new Art Club t-shirts, a Cookies and Canvas, which is an event with Dover elementary students in December to eat cookies and paint/help the elementary students paint, and as always a fun field trip in the spring,” explained Mrs.Hanenkrat. The window painting is always so fun. You get to go downtown and paint on some of the happy businesses on 3rd Street with a design of your group’s choosing. Also, designing clothes is never a boring time and to have a t-shirt that you know you possibly helped create is so satisfying.
From the times I have gone to Art Club during activity day, I think it’s a very “chill” environment and have almost had at least one person to talk to, and of course, almost everyone is so nice to talk to. All of my experiences in Art Club have always been great, from meeting up with friends to basically having half of the class talk. Every meeting we have has only a couple minutes of listening to the club’s staff talking about the club’s updates of their plans for the coming year or the next.
It’s a very large group, so hopefully, you get a seat next Friday!
