The Cleveland Browns’ history is not one of the most appealing or impressive for sports fans. As a Browns fan myself, I usually end the season saying, “There’s always next year…” But in the more recent years, the Browns have looked promising.

The Browns do not have the best history over the years when it comes to winning seasons. Looking at the chart, you can see their annual stats starting from 2014. The franchise was founded in 1944, but that was too many stats to put so to see this you can visit the website using this link: clevelandbrowns.com/team/history/year-by-year-results The Cleveland Browns have had some pretty tough years. For example, in 2017 the franchise had not a single win in that season. But in the more recent years, they have had substantially better records than some of the previous years. The start of that was having made a playoff appearance in 2020. The Browns are 1 of 4 teams in the NFL to have never made a Superbowl appearance, meaning they have never won one either. But starting off the 2023 season, their current record is 2-2, and according to stats and charts on sportsnaut.com, the Browns have the number one best pass defense in the league and the number five best-run defense in the league. Aside from the stats, there were various mentions of how despite how some of their games have gone, they still have one of the best defenses in the NFL currently. So far on the season, there are many player stats. Deshaun Watson’s throwing yards so far this season is 678 yards, averaging 226 yards per game. Our lead rusher this year is Jerome Ford, who is doing a fantastic job in place of last year’s lead rusher, Nick Chub, who in game two suffered from a leg injury against the Steelers. Jerome’s total rushing yards this season are 186 yards. Our leader in receiving yards is Amari Cooper with 259 yards on the season. Our lead defender is George Delpit with a total of 21 tackles on the season. The lead sacker this season is our DE Miles Garrett with 5.5 sacks and sack yards being 44. And last but not least, our lead scorer on the season is Deandre Hopkins with a total so far of 28 points on the season. Although these stats will absolutely change over the course of the season, the ones we have accumulated over the past five weeks of the NFL season are pretty impressive and can only go up from here. Regardless of what the Browns’ history has been with winning, playoffs, and Superbowls, I’d say this year is one of many to come that are promising for the Browns franchise. Go Brownies!
