On September 18, 2023, the Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb sustained a terrible injury to his left knee while playing against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The injury was so gruesome they could not show the footage of it on TV. Following Chubb’s injury, he was carted off the field and taken to the hospital for further analysis. No updates were received for some time.
As of September 30th, we received news that he had undergone surgery to repair the medial capsule, meniscus, and medial collateral ligament (MCL). However, he is still in need of another surgery to repair his ACL. Fans will be unsure of the condition of any other possible injuries until surgery. Gracie Keith, a senior and big fan of Chubb, had this to say about the loss of the running back: “I wish Chubb a quick and healthy recovery because he is one of the Browns’ most talented players.”
In addition to his current injuries, Chubb had another incident with the same knee in 2015. This injury resulted in him tearing his MCL, posterior cruciate ligament, and lateral collateral ligament. Chubb will be out indefinitely for the rest of the 23-24 season with an estimated eight months for a full recovery. This means he should be making a return about May 2023.
For now, Cleveland has signed Kareem Hunt to replace the legendary running back. Hunt appears to be a decent replacement but not enough to fill the gap of Nick Chubb. The Browns have had a pretty promising start to the season, but will they take it to the 2024 Superbowl? That remains to be seen.
