The Golden Globes is an award ceremony that has been held since 1944 to celebrate and honor artists as well as their work. The winners of 2024 were Oppenheimer for Drama Motion Picture, Cillian Murphy for Actor in a Drama Motion Picture, and Barbie for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. I will always think the best thing at the Golden Globes is seeing all of the outfits and some of the roast, some years it’s funny but this year I did not like it. This year’s roast was hosted by Joy Ko, an American stand-up comedian, who made two very inappropriate jokes. One included Margot Robbie’s chest which ignored the whole point of her Barbie movie. Another joke she made was too Taylor Swift made fun of her at the NFL games.

1. Taylor Swift 

I love her green dress so much; I don’t usually like sparkly dresses, (I might just like hers because of my love for Taylor) but I think it looks good on her and I don’t think there was any other celebrity that was wearing a green dress like she was wearing. During this year’s roast, actor Joy Ko stated that the only difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL is that there are fewer camera shots of Taylor at the Golden Globes. Fans of Taylor hated this joke and said that it wasn’t funny.

2. Billie Eilish 

Honestly, the first time I saw the outfit, I thought it looked weird because of how bulky it was, but the more I looked and thought about it, the more I thought it was her. I love her hairstyle and how she dyed her roots this year. The only thing I think she could have done differently is the socks. I do like that they match her hair, but I don’t think they go with her outfit. Maybe white socks would’ve been better.

3. Timothée Chalamet

I like the sparkly jacket, and I like how much it matches Kylie Jenner. I also like the necklace; it makes the whole outfit less boring. A lot of the time men’s outfits are kind of boring, and is this outfit kind of boring? Yes. Do I like it because I like him? Maybe. But, it looks nice on him, and it looks nice when he is sitting with Kylie.

4. Margot Robbie

I love that she wore a Barbie-inspired dress. I think it looked so good on her, and I love that she wore a dress inspired by one of her biggest roles. I also felt so bad for her during the roast this year. During the roast, Joy Ko made a very “tone-deaf” joke about the feminist plot behind the whole movie. This made me so mad because it sounded like he was making fun of the feminist point of the.

5. Jenna Ortega

I love this dress so much on her. I like the flowy arms and the color looked so great on her; I also like that she’s getting away from the Wednesday aesthetic. I like her new haircut too; the shaggy, wolf-cut mixture looks good on anyone. All of the necklaces together look good too, and  I especially like the longer one. I love the new aesthetic she’s started to go for after Wednesday.

6. Jeremy Allan White

To be fully honest, his outfit was kinda boring, but it still looked good. There isn’t much to say about his outfit. I like the sheer shirt under the jacket; I think that looked nice. I also really liked the acceptance speech, it was very short and sweet. He just thanked everyone who helped him get to where he is today and the crew of his new show, The Bear. 

7. Barry Keoghan

I like the red because it’s a nod to his movie Saltburn, but I don’t like the belt chain or the checkered pants. I do like the outfit but just not on him. I think I like his past outfits more than this year, but I do like the intentions of it. There isn’t much from his outfit that I would change, even though I’m not a fan of the checkered pants, I think they go with the outfit and give it another layer of the outfit, not just a plain red suit with some accessories.

8. Oprah

I believe I just love everything this woman does. I adore the dress she wore this year. It is so beautiful. I love the off-the-shoulder and especially the color and the sparkle of the purple. The glasses match so well, and the earrings give you anything to look at. Her makeup is beautiful and so well done. I love Oprah.

9. Ryan Gosling

I give so much credit to this man. I love his outfit but what I’ve loved the most about his stay at the Golden Globes was when Joy Ko was giving the roast. Ryan didn’t smile, chuckle, or laugh once. I believe Ryan Gosling is such a good person beyond his looks. I don’t have any comments about his outfit; I think it looked nice on him. I do have to bring up that a lot of the men’s outfits do get boring and possibly a little repetitive, but I loved his suit on him.

10. Emma Stone

Does her dress kind of remind me of what my Grandma would wear? Yes, but it looks great on her. I like the roses, the v-neck, and the slit up the dress. It’s a nice dress, and it looks nice on her. I do like the design. It is a gorgeous dress, but I think it does age her a bit so it would look better on an older lady.
