The Super Bowl is one of the biggest sporting events for the United States. Many people have parties and get together to watch it. This year’s Super Bowl was very controversial. From Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce to the fact that the 49ers and the Chiefs have already had a Super Bowl matchup. I feel as though the game was highly anticipated. 

This game was controversial because of a lot of things. People wanted other teams in the matchup, but it was mainly controversial because of the one and only… Taylor Swift. As everyone and their brother knows, Taylor is dating Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce. A lot of football fans get upset because the NFL seems to make the Chiefs game a lot about her. They put the camera on her in most of the free time and breaks and during the game if the Chiefs and/ or Travis does something good. A lot of people got tired of it FAST. I feel like they also got tired of it because everywhere you looked all summer was Taylor Swift because of her tour. Then she becomes a part of the most watched sport in the U.S. I understand their frustration.

The other reason that the game was controversial was the 49ers and the Chiefs have had a matchup in the season-end Super Bowl once before. They played each other in Miami in 2020 with the Chiefs winning 31-20. The matchup was not wanted by a lot of football fans though. Most people who are fans of the NFL wanted the Lions to be in the matchup considering they have not had a Super Bowl appearance ever. The Chiefs ended up winning the Super Bowl in overtime after nearly a whole extra 15-minute quarter. They won by 3 points. Their winning made them the first team in almost exactly a decade to win two back-to-back Super Bowls. No one in the NFL has ever won 3 in a row. Will they go on to win a third ring in the 24-25 season? I guess we will have to wait and see if it will ever be done.
