Naturally, as the president of the Art Club, I am very fond of art. It makes me proud to see artists at Dover High School being recognized for their creativity and talent. Dover has recently started to take notice of their artists by having their first Fine Arts Day last year! To add with this, I would like to showcase a member of the Art Club weekly!
Our showcase this week is Kaden Taiclet. He is a senior and has been in Art Club all four years of high school. On social media, he goes under the alias “tewt0w.” In his free time, he enjoys drawing, playing piano, playing trombone in the Dover Marching Band, and making animations. Some of his favorite medias include indie games and cartoons, such as Sam & Max, Gravity Falls, and Cuphead.
Kaden Taiclet has been drawing since he was in kindergarten, and from that point on, there has never been a time where his homework hasn’t been covered in doodles. He practices daily, sketching his favorite cartoons and even characters of his own, and has countless sketchbooks from all of his years of drawing! Seriously, there is nothing he wouldn’t draw on – whether it be permission slips, whiteboards, or even receipts from restaurants.
He began practicing animation when he started middle school and has steadily improved since then! He occasionally will post a work-in-progress video of his cartoons on social media, but sometimes gets uninspired and does not finish it. He either animates cartoon characters from shows or animates his own characters. Three years ago, one of his animations went viral and amassed about 263,000 views!
Have a look at some of his pieces!
In the future, Kaden hopes to become a 2D animation artist, animating storyboards for cartoons. He plans on attending Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design to pursue that career. With all these drawings in mind, this future seems achievable!
