New movies, old movies, and the popcorn that comes with them—it’s always delightful, and it’s something that never gets old. Movies are always being released, but most of them never get a spotlight. In 2024, there will be some different types of movie releases. As 2024 ends, movies are released, and it seems like all these movies are going to be good.
Deadpool & Wolverine
This movie was released over the summer, and I went to see it. It is very action-packed with fight choreography, gore, and the occasional Deadpool swear-word moment. The plot is quite easy to follow throughout the movie. Deadpool finds out his timeline in the universe is about to come to an end because the anchor of the timeline dies. The film explains things in more detail and makes way more sense. This movie is out now for streaming on Disney Plus and is still a popular movie of 2024.
Venom: The Last Dance
When you think of Marvel characters, who comes to mind? Most likely, you think about Spider-Man or Captain America. But Marvel has a whole other genre of movies about anti-heroes. One of their most well-known anti-heroes is Venom. He has been the star of this trilogy, and he continues to be. This thrilling Marvel movie is still in theaters and will likely start streaming in December of 2024. In this movie, Venom and Eddie Brock must make a devastating decision as they are being pursued by a mysterious military man and alien monsters from Venom’s home world. This movie is the final movie with Venom and Eddie Brock, Venom’s host, as they take their last battle together.
The Wild Robot
A children’s novel gone to the big screen, The Wild Robot is a popular children’s novel that I sadly never read. This fantastic movie will fill you with tears, awe, and happiness. The star of the movie is a robot named Roz. Roz gets stranded on a deserted island and has to adapt to its new environment. Along the way, the robot makes friends with the wildlife on the island. This plot is cute, and it seems like an amazing movie. It is very different from most children’s movies today. The reason is that it teaches an important life lesson: sometimes going into something new can be exciting, and you can find new friends in unexpected places. It is currently in theaters. One of my friends, Kiley VanSickle, went to see it and loved it. She said this about the movie, “The Wild Robot is excellent, and seeing it is recommended!” Roz and its furry little friends seem like a blast, so watch it in theaters.
Moana 2
“I’ve been staring at the edge of the water…as long as I can remember. Never really knowing why…”- How Far I’ll Go
Remember this song? It’s from Moana. And guess what! She is back with Maui for another adventure! On November 27, 2024, Moana 2 will be released. All we know about the movie is what Disney has announced. Moana journeys to the far seas of Oceania after receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors. The movie will still have the original cast, but we will be treated to some new voices. There is a line-up of new characters being added to the original characters. This fun family movie is definitely on some watch lists.
Wicked
Broadway show revamped to a movie screen for the first time. This wickedly cool movie is going to be released in theaters on November 22, 2024. It also shows the destruction of the once-great bond that Glinda and Elphaba shared. Ariana Grande stars as Glinda, and Cynthia Erivo plays Elphaba. One of the best merch drops for this movie is the Stanley cups created for Glinda and Elphaba. They have a green one for Elphaba and a pink one for Glinda. The green one has a glossy glitter coat with a golden flying monkey engraved on it. The pink one has an engraved butterfly, and it has the type of coat. This movie will be worth watching.
Each movie will have a place on the map of 2024. Deadpool gave us some laughs at some dirty humor. Venom: The Last Dance shows us how an anti-hero’s story ends. The Wild robot will make sure we have tears in our eyes. And Wicked will probably have us singing along to the songs. These movies deserve some time in each of our lives. So go watch the ones that sound good and take a Friend!
