The Golden Globes are an annual award ceremony dedicated to both film and television. It has been an ongoing commemoration since 1944 to honor actors and professionals in their work. The Golden Globes are typically celebrated in early January, and, like a lot of professional award ceremonies, the outfits are a major factor when it comes to the popularity of The Golden Globes. I bestow the honor of ranking, what I feel, are the best and worst outfits presented at the recent Golden Globes this 2025 season.
Best Golden Globes Outfits:
- To start strong, I felt Margaret Qualley had such a sophisticated yet sweet look. She wore a beautiful, white, sleek dress, almost embodying the elegance of a white swan. There is a cute, black bow centered in the middle that breaks up the white. To compliment the dress, a silver headband was added giving the dress a touch of personality.
- Anya Taylor-Joy is next on the list. She wore a gorgeous long and pink satin dress designed by Dior. The fabric had a beautiful sheen giving it a luxurious flow. The white shawl she wore gave Anya a graceful appearance. To finish off the outfit, she wore a statement necklace tying the outfit altogether.
- Now this next outfit is a bit controversial, but to me I think it was one of the best. Ariana Grande wore a light butter yellow dress with a light-colored sequin design at the top that adds a touch of sparkle. The dress is paired with white gloves giving Ariana a classic, Old Hollywood look. To compliment the look, she wore her hair up in a ponytail replicating a Audrey Hepburn style.
- Zendaya had an outstanding dress at the Golden Globes. She had on a stunning dark golden color that gave her a fearless look. The long train in the back of the dress gave off a unique look giving the illusion of a gown. Zendaya had on complimentary heels that matched her look without taking away from her beauty. It was also noticed Zendaya had on a ring, hinting to an engagement with her partner, Tom Holland.
Worst Golden Globes Outfits:
- Unfortunately, there were some flops at the Golden Globes. To begin, whoever styled Ali Wong needs to go back to fashion school because this dress made me question my whole life. Her dress looked like plastic party streamers taped together. To make it worse, she wore black gloves throwing off the outfit all together. If I went into Party City blindfolded and walked out, this is something I would imagine I would be wearing. Hopefully Ali has a comeback at the next awards.
- The next look on the list is Melissa McCarthy. Although she is an icon, her outfit at the Golden Globes was an utter defeat. She had on a bright pink long-sleeved jumpsuit. But what makes this outfit a major fiasco is the huge, ruffled cape engulfing her. At this point, she looks like a floating head from afar. This was a fashion failure, but she will be forgiven because of her iconic nature in Gilmore Girls.
- Kerry Washington unfortunately disappointed in this year’s Golden Globes. Her dress looked like someone wrapped her up in pink tissue paper. It almost reminded me of the game where you wrap someone in toilet paper making them resemble a mummy. Her dress appeared to constrict her movement in an unflattering, bulky fashion. The uneven shape of the dress did not bring together the coordination of the outfit. Kerry is stunning, so hopefully she has more looks in store for next year.
- To end this category, Gia Coppola did not meet my expectations. Her dress did not appear fashionable. Sadly, it looked like she may have bought it from Target as it reminded me of a cheap, summer dress. The dress itself had a purple color to it with polka dots decorated throughout. The fabric of the dress does not resemble that high of quality and appears to be quite bland. Another factor adding her to this list is her accessories. Her black floral clutch did not match her look at all which makes this an unfortunate rating for Gia. Nonetheless, Gia’s radiant energy gave her the confidence to shine brightly on the carpet.
Overall, the 2025 Golden Globes had some fantastic outfits. There were plenty of stunning looks and some unfortunate flops, but in the end everyone has their own style, and this was my take on the fashion. I look forward to next year’s fashion-spectacle and can not wait to tune in.
