Ohio State is arguably one of the greatest college football teams in the B1G conference. They showed their superiority beyond doubt in the 24-25 season, winning against Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, and Notre Dame. They could come back and win the College Football Playoffs. This is the first championship win they have gotten since 2014, which was just over ten years ago. With quarterback Will Howard, wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, running back Quinshon Judkins, defensive end Jack Sawyer, and many other talented players, they took down the Fighting Irish with a score of 34-23.

Ryan Day, the head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes, has significantly impacted college football since taking over the program. Under his leadership, the Buckeyes have consistently performed at a high level, showcasing their talent in the College Football Playoff (CFP). Day’s strategic play-calling and ability to develop players, particularly at the quarterback position, have been key factors in the team’s success.

Now, let’s talk more about the players and what they might have been thinking throughout the game. Jeremiah Smith, a 6’3” freshman from Miami Gardens, Florida, is one of the most notable players on the Buckeyes roster. He had 67 receptions in his first season for the Buckeyes, and if he keeps that up, he will end up with over 200 receptions, which is just shy of the NCAA record of 158. Not only did he exceed in catches, but he also had an astonishing 1,315-yard run. Again, this is over half of the NCAA set by Trevor Insley with a record of 2,006 receiving yards. He also had 15 touchdowns, which would be 90 points scored by just himself and the quarterback without the extra point attempt. Overall, Jeremiah has been one of the best players on the current OSU roster. 

Now, Jeremiah is good, but so is the running back, Quinshon Judkins. A 6’0” junior from Pike Road, Alabama, Quinshon had 194 carrying attempts, most of which were successful. He also had 1,060 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns, which, without the extra point attempt, is 84 points scored by just himself. Now, do not get Quinshon Judkins and Jack Judkins from Dover High School mixed up. Even though they are both very talented athletes, they are not related at all.

Last but not least, Will Howard is a 6’4” senior from Downington, Pennsylvania. Will Howard was one of the best starting quarterbacks in the 2024-2025 season for Ohio State. Previously, he played for the Kansas State Wildcats and had an amazing three years before entering the portal to be transferred. Will had 35 touchdown passes and threw the ball for an astonishing 4,010 yards. The most yards ever thrown in a single season was set by Western Kentucky’s Bailey Zappe when he threw for 5,967 yards in 2021. He could get close to the record, but nearly 6,000 yards is a very hard task to accomplish.

In the playoffs, Day has led Ohio State to memorable victories, often highlighted by dynamic offensive performances and strong defensive efforts. His emphasis on teamwork, discipline, and preparation has not only propelled the Buckeyes into the spotlight but has also instilled a winning culture within the program. With his impressive track record, Ryan Day continues to be a formidable presence in college football, aiming for national championships and further establishing Ohio State as a powerhouse in the sport. Overall, Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes have had an amazing year, and hopefully, they can do the same thing next year.
