As the president of the Art Club, I am naturally very fond of art. It makes me proud to see artists at Dover High School being recognized for their creativity and talent. Dover has recently started to take notice of their artists by having their first Fine Arts Day last year! To add to this, I would like to showcase a member of the Art Club weekly!
Our feature this week is Victor Oxlaj Pastor. Victor is currently a junior in high school and spends a lot of time in the Dover Art Club. When Victor isn’t participating in Art Club, you can find him playing the cello in the Dover Orchestra. Victor has spent all of his 3 years of high school participating in Art Club, being a great help to the officers and teachers who work. As president of the Art Club, I believe Victor would be a great addition to the Art Club staff. His love for art and helpfulness is integral!
After he graduates high school, Victor is unsure of which college he plans to attend, but he knows he wants to continue pursuing the arts! When I asked him what he would like to major in, he said, “college is a maybe, but I would either major in art or music composition.” He has previously taken a music theory class at Dover High School and has expressed his interest in music making.
Victor typically enjoys drawing realistic pieces, but he can do all sorts of artwork. Whether it be through painting, digital art, or just sketches, Victor likes to design dinosaurs and aquatic life, making very detailed pieces of art. In my opinion, I believe artists such as Victor are remarkable – being able to replicate such an intricate and realistic design is definitely a feat to be recognized from artist to artist! I personally do not draw animals, nor am I good at drawing them, so to me, Victor’s art is incredible!
Overall, it has been very fun to get to know Victor through the artist spotlight process and be able to connect with more artists in Dover.
