The band has been a big part of my life and the lives of our alumni, school, and community members. During this 25’-26’ season, the Dover Marching Tornadoes have had some good moments. From band camp to our last concert, we accomplished so much this season. We got the opportunity to play at the Massillion Band Show, our own Dover Band Show, and thirteen amazing games. We also got the opportunity to march through Cedar Point and play with Ohio University’s Marching 110. During our concert season, the Symphonic Band got to perform at OMEA, where they received a superior rating. There is no doubt that many memories were made during all of that so I have asked band members from all grades about their favorite memories from this band season.
“Participating in Mellophone Mondays during our Monday Night Lights practices.” -Carleigh Carpenter (Sophomore)
“When we were riding rides after our Cedar Point performance, my friend Haley Swartzwelder and I were riding Steel Vengeance. She opened her eyes, right at the big drop, and passed out.” -Dylan Reed (Junior)
“On the bus ride to the Dover Phila game, Bus 3, my bus, did chants to help get us pumped up.” -Sarobbe Compton (Freshman)
“Shaming a fellow percussion member, Alex Immel, for being late to the buses, making us all late for the Cedar Point trip.” -Emily Flood (Freshman)
“Playing Ain’t Been Good with the Marching 110.” -Will Pilcher (Freshman)
“Getting to know the new freshman and the death marches.” -Nick White (Sophomore)
“Getting to know my section during band camp.” -Alison Linkenhoker (Freshman)
“Getting to march with the Marching 110.” -Zack Stucin
“Going to Cedar Point and riding all the big rides with my friends.” -Trevor Clark
Many memories were made this season. Cedar Point, band camp, and The Marching 110 were highlights of our season, creating memories that will be carried with us for our whole lives. We have spent so much time together working hard and improving, but we still find the time to be goofy with our friends and directors. The band is such a joy to be a part of. I look forward to band every day because it has picked me up in the darkest of times. S,o as we close our 25’-26’ season, I want to thank every director and community member who supports their local high school band. These memories aren’t possible without the people around us. Go Dover Marching Tornadoes!
