On July 14, 2025, protesters lined the streets in 2,100 cities across America. At the same time, the parade celebrating the Army’s 250th anniversary, which coincidentally was the same day as President Trump’s birthday, was being walked by over 6,000 soldiers. Many protesters believe that the Army’s 250th anniversary parade was a celebration of Donald Trump.
The protest was mainly initiated by the deportation and imprisonment of 30,000-60,000 central and southern Americans. Many of those Americans/Immigrants were documented, even though the deportation of documented Americans is illegal. Both democrats and republicans marched against the current president, Donald Trump.
Many Americans are outraged at the laws that are causing this. ICE, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, is a great example of why people are angry. ICE has been taking undocumented and documented immigrants out of their homes, even grabbing them off the streets. In many cases, the immigrants taken have been imprisoned and unable to contact a lawyer or family. This has angered many Latinos and U.S. citizens alike.
The protest held in Dover was peaceful and safe, as were most of the marches and protests. Only 3 recorded clashes between protesters and law enforcement were staged. One being in Central Las Vegas, another was in Southwest Portland, and the last being in Tukwila, Washington. In many instances, law enforcement used violent resources against the peaceful protesters. They used tear gas, rubber bullets, and brute force to try to disperse the protesters.
“I do believe the 250th anniversary of the army parade was actually for Donald Trump.The parade was held on his birthday, and he was the main attraction there, people RSVPed, not to celebrate the army, but to see Donald Trump”, says Rowen Smith, an attendee of the protest. The parade was planned only months beforehand and masterminded by Donald Trump himself. Citizens were encouraged to RSVP for spots to watch the anniversary parade. Another reason protesters believe that the anniversary parade was for Donald Trump is that he watched the parade while the actual army marched instead of watching and being recognized.
Overall, many citizens are fighting for change in many different ways. Some become politicians or just do good in their communities by trying to make a change against the laws that go against their beliefs. Protesting is a good way to show the government or powers above that we, the people, don’t agree with a rule or idea. Peaceful protests are a much better way to get a point across. The “No Kings” protest is a great example of a peaceful protest that inspired change and thought.
