Since winter sports have started, let’s talk about bowling, bowling lanes, and bowling alleys. Dover has many sports but one of them that does not get talked about enough is bowling. With my last sports article, I covered the basics of the sport so now I will cover the team, practices, games etc.
To begin, there are around 5 girls and 15 boys on Dover’s bowling team and practices are in East Sparta.Thunder in the Alley is where home practice is held for the Dover team, which I don’t fully understand why but oh well. The last game I attended was on December 5th, where the girls won 1492 to 1196 beating Philadelphia and the boys lost 2076 to 2513 losing to NP. The girls were led by Kaitlin Yoder and Jocelyn Steele and boys led by Pearce Mower, Jaxson Anslow, and John Beal.
I think for such an underestimated sport all the team members put in crazy effort and many do other sports or after school activities; In all seriousness, the Dover bowling team is outstanding in everything they do and we are so blessed to have strong willed teams like this one at our school.
Their next game is Wednesday February 4th, a home game! make sure to support your friends, no SIGNS, and if you have a really boring Wednesday show up and support your school! You know they would do the same for you. A bowling team member who chooses to stay anonymous had this to say about Dover Bowling, “I love my teammates, my coaches push me to be better every day, and it is a healthy environment and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be on this team.”
While Dover may lose and win some games, let’s not forget that sports should bring us together. Help us by showing up, grabbing a friend, buying a ticket, and being present in school or else you’ll just have a high school experience with no stories to tell. Dover’s bowling teams are going to kick butt this season and who would want to miss that? Go Tornadoes!
