As you have probably heard, Hot Girl Summer is officially over, which means that fall is here. Fall stereotypes consist of pumpkin spice lattes, flannels, Uggs, and lots of candles. This season is all about the cozy aesthetic, and one of my favorite activities during said season is baking. There are tons of amazing fall recipes out there, especially on Pinterest. I found recipes for pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin donuts, and pumpkin spice lattes. Although I am far from a pro-baker, Nevin and I attempted these recipes and tested our chef skills.

The first recipe on the list was the pumpkin spice latte. I was super excited to see how this compared to the popular pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks. Unfortunately, we were definitely disappointed. It did start to grow on us the more we drank it, but we both agreed that we would rather pay a couple dollars for the better one. On a positive note, it was very easy to make. First, we put milk, pumpkin puree, sugar, vanilla, and pumpkin spices into a sauce pan and heated the mixture over the stove. We made the coffee in my keurig and then mixed the two together. It took us about ten minutes from start to finish.

After the latte, we started on the pumpkin donuts. The recipe was very simple and only required three ingredients: yellow cake mix, pumpkin puree, and pumpkin spice. Our pumpkin donuts turned into one large pumpkin donut when we realized we didn’t have the right pan. For some reason, I had a massive donut pan in my basement which we used instead of the traditional ones. After we greased the pan and sprinkled flour on it, we poured the batter in. It baked for about thirty minutes. Taking it out of the pan was a struggle because of its size, but we got it out in one piece. To finish it off, we shook on a mixture of powdered sugar and pumpkin spice. This recipe was our favorite by far. We actually ate it and wouldn’t be opposed to making it again. Final thoughts: 10/10 would recommend.

Our third and final fall recipe was pumpkin pancakes. To put it simply, these were not good. They just tasted like normal pancakes but with a weird texture. However, I think our baking ability was the real reason why these turned out poorly. It was late, and we were kind of just throwing stuff into the bowl. We made a maple pecan syrup to go with the pancakes. In my opinion, the syrup was the worst part. It was very sweet and too liquidy, but again, it might have just been our error.

I really enjoyed making these recipes and would recommend trying the pumpkin donuts. The other recipes are worth trying, but I wouldn’t expect them to be as exciting as the donut. If none of these seem up your alley, there are plenty of different options on the internet. You can also use different techniques to make it your own. Don’t forget to document your baking with a picture!
