The Oscar Mayer Wiener Mobile
The Pinnacle of Transportation
The Bugatti La Voiture Noire. 6 exhaust tips. A 7-speed dual-clutch. And a quad-turbo 8.0 liter W16 engine thrown in just for funsies. What sounds like the aftermath of a French baguette that just threw itself up is actually the most expensive car on the planet. Going for approximately 19 million dollars a pop, the Noire represents capitalism at its finest. But you don’t have to be a multimillionaire to ride in style. Behold, I present to you the hidden 8th wonder of the world, the epitome of class – the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.
Originally developed in 1936 for promotional use in Chicago, the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile quickly became a huge hit among the hot dog enthusiasts of Illinois. But what about the rest of America? It would seem unfair to restrict such majesty to one location. Apparently, the Mayer’s thought the same, for in 1940 Oscar Mayer Co. expanded the Weinermobile division to cover the entirety of both the East and Midwest. Truly an exciting time to be a frankfurter aficionado. However, after several vehicular revisions and improvements throughout the following years, disaster struck. In 1977, the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile was officially retired. Goodbye, sweet prince; you will always have a place in our hearts…
Then, a Christmas miracle. The year was 1988, and due to popular demand, the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile was officially brought out of retirement! Oh, how the nation rejoiced! Its national treasure had returned.
Hosting a Vortec V8 6.0 L 300 horsepower engine, the current rendition of the Weinermobile is truly a sight to behold. Now you’re probably asking: “How can one such as myself experience the euphoria that comes with driving a giant hot dog car thing?” Unfortunately, as of this article’s publication, the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is not available for retail consumption. Understandable. Not everyone should have access to such a magnificent piece of mechanical marvel. Lucky for you, I happen to have a plan that’s guaranteed to get you behind the wheel. Here it is.
Step 1 – Get hired by Oscar Mayer Co.
… That’s it. Huh. You know, that really shouldn’t be that difficult in retrospect… No matter! You now have all the information you need to become an official Wienermobile chauffeur. You’ve got the history and the specs; now all you have to do is turn in your application. See you on the streets, young Hotdogger. I hope you’ll RELISH your time with the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.
