Dover Swimmers Headed to State

Dover’s boys swim team earned five district champions on Wednesday at Ohio State University.  The team is headed to the Division 2 State Meet at C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton this Thursday, February 20th  beginning 5:00 PM.  Lucas Lane, a freshman at Dover, won two individual events and was part of two other team wins.  He won the 200 Yard Freestyle and had a record-setting win in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 4:40.52.

Lane, with junior Blake Sexton, junior Will McCrate and senior Peyton Burris won the 200 Medley Relay (4th).  He was also a member of the winning 400 Free Relay (6th) with Sexton, senior Ty Wilson and Burris.  McCrate, Wilson, sophomore Blaze Burris, and Peyton Burris also won the 200 Free Relay.

In individual events, Blake Sexton was second in the 100 Backstroke, while Peyton Burris will also compete in the 50 Free (6th).  The Dover girls placed fourth overall as a team.  Freshman Reagan Durbin will swim the 100 Backstroke on Thursday.  Coach Brenda Wherley was named district Boys’ Coach of the Year.  Congratulations to Coach Wherley and all Dover swimmers!
