Cool Modern and Hip Holidays I Came Up With
Today, there are lots and lots of holidays. Every day seems like ‘national something-something day.’ But the most popular holidays are further apart and are celebrated by large numbers of people. But, they are all very old holidays, relating to religions or different cultures. So, I’ve decided to take on the task of creating new, modern, and cool new holidays to go along with these older traditions.
My first addition would be a second Halloween. Halloween and the month of October are extremely popular for their theme, aesthetic, and vast supply of pumpkins. Halloween is also the one night of the year that we get to dress up and get free candy (except for me. My parents say I’m too old now.) A second Halloween would allow for more candy and more costumes. On top of this, if it rains on the first Halloween, then you can always go on the second Halloween.
Another holiday idea would be Dead Meme Day. It would be on April 2, because April 1 is for tricks and pranks, and the next day is to annoy the crap out of your parents by only speaking in memes. On this day, you can quote as many vines, memes, or videos as you please, and not be shunned by your peers! And, at 9:00 pm, we will hold a minute of silence for our fallen memes. May they rest in peace forever.
Flappy Bird is a very addictive phone game that was released on May 24, 2013. It was taken down because the creator felt guilty for making such an addictive game. So, on May 24th of every year, I think that Flappy Bird should be downloadable for only one day before it is taken down again. It will fill with joy as we smash our phones against the wall with frustration. Good times.
National Fad Day is a very neat concept. For a day, we can bring back fads like fidget spinners, fingerboards, slime, orbeez, and more. I think this should be on the third Saturday of every February, for no reason in particular. On this day, we can just play with old toys and fads that lived and died while we were still kids.
Everyone has a birthday, so why not celebrate a national birthday every year? It doesn’t even have to be anyone’s birthday! It’s really just an excuse to eat cake and have a get-together with your family and friends. And, we can cut out all of the awkward gift giving! No more awkwardly smiling as you watch your family open presents. Instead, it will be a sort of treat yo’ self day, where you buy yourself a gift. No more unwanted gifts!
For my last holiday idea, Chicken Bacon Ranch Flatbread Day. This fun holiday idea is a combination of some amazing foods (bacon being the best). It will be the most random and obscure holiday and at least once in the day, you will have chicken bacon ranch flatbread. The combination of flavors is exquisite and amazing, and if you don’t like it, then you are seriously missing out.
These are just some ideas of cool new holidays that would bring families, friends, and communities closer together. A lot of these ideas are goofy and will never happen, but they are still fun little concepts to think about.
