After a long run, the Major League Baseball season is finally coming to an end. I would say that the Cleveland Guardians had a good run, after a historic regular season finish that erased a fifteen and a half game lead held by the Detroit Tigers. They also managed to clinch the American League Central Division. Despite all of this, the 2025 MLB playoffs saw the Guardians dumped in the wildcard round.
As of current standings, Detroit is in a best-of-five divisional series with Seattle, the winner taking on Toronto for the American League Pennant.
In the National League, the Chicago Cubs are locked into a tight series with Milwaukee, and the Phillies are trying to move past the Dodgers to advance to the National League pennant.
It would be cool to see the Los Angeles Dodgers become World Series champions for the second year in a row. The team has absolute bombers like Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts. It also includes elite pitchers such as Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, and the retiring Clayton Kershaw.
When I asked my father, a lifelong MLB fan, what his opinions on this playoff stretch were, this is what he had to say: “I am just happy that the Yankees have been eliminated from the playoffs this year!” Personally, I did not inherit his hatred of the Yankees and would rather they had advanced in the playoffs.
Of course, it is disheartening to see the Guardians go, but I am still excited to watch the conclusion of the season.
