As soon as you can smell the Thanksgiving turkey in the oven, you can be sure that it’s time for the most anticipated college football game of the year: The Ohio State Buckeyes vs The Michigan Wolverines.
Since the game was cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Michigan has won four times in a row! This comes as no surprise, since Mighigan is dubbed “the winningest team in college football.” This year, Michigan has struggled with some losses to Oklahoma and USC. Meanwhile, Ohio State has steamrolled their opponents this year. Some may say that they are well on their way to back to back National Champions status. They will at least more than likely make it to the championship game and will probably face undefeated Indiana.
Although the OSU v. Michigan game will always be a big game for fans with all of its pageantry, the 12 team college playoff system has taken a bit of the excitement off of the game. To put this into perspective, if Ohio State is undefeated going into the rivalry game and happens to lose to The Wolverines, Ohio could still make the playoffs. This takes some of the edge off of “The Big Game.”
Personally, I believe that Ohio State will play a lot looser this year as a result of that. My dad, who helped me devise this article, would like to say that Ohio will easily get past Michigan and make their way to National Champions, although I do not see it that way. I believe that Michigan will once again take the victory this year and will have their five minutes of victory before Ohio once again wins that National championship. I could be wrong, but that Michigan win streak is too good to be broken so soon.
With all of this considered, this rivalry game truly marks the most wonderful time of the year!!!!
