As sad as we are to see Friday Night Lights go, it’s time to welcome the Girls Basketball season to the spotlight, with the Girls basketball season commencing a couple of weeks ago, with many practices, games, and stellar shots made by our girls!
The girls participating in the 25-26 season are Freshmen Savannah Blind, Maddie Minnis, Anna Klaserner, Ashlyn Avery, Aubrie Hindman, Abbey Zurfley, Presley Such, Lexus Grewell, Aubri Huffman, Elle Tonya, Odilia Perez, and Esmerelda Ajanel Ixcoy. Sophomores for the 25-26 season are Jenna Festi, Ariana Immel, Linzie Mathias, Makiah Miracle, and Marlie Libby. Juniors for the 25-26 season are Olivia McCue, Torie Hunter, Allie Hamsher, Ciara Tristano, Estera Cotlet, and Mya Wolfe-Hunley. Finally, the seniors for the 25-26 season are Ansley Bollon and Katelynn Sines.
I have no doubts that these lovely ladies will bring home many wonderful tornado victories this season, and most of these amazing girls do multiple sports in one school year. Also, they participate in a lot of extra-curriculars this year, so that is a lot of pressure, but every year they still bring their best. I’m sure their coaches are delighted to have such strong willed girls on their teams!
The first scrimmage was a home one on November 1st versus Union Local, and the first game of the season is on Tuesday, November 25th, against Tuslaw. It is an away game, so make sure you get your tickets and remember, NO SIGNS! As much fun as they would be, any indoor tournament does not allow signs of any kind other than the cheerleader’s signs. As much fun as it would be to have signs of your friends, it is against the rules. Don’t forget your school spirit and positive attitudes!
While some losses may occur during the season, I think it’s safe to say we will have way more wins. Dover pride leads us to victory every time, whether we are up against teams in football, basketball, track, softball, tennis, or cross country. Dover is a tenacious school with persistent, determined, and unyielding players and students. I do not doubt that the Dover Girls Basketball 25-26 season will be one to remember. Tornadoes! I am forever glad I get to witness the things that make me proud to be a Dover Tornado.
