The Crimsonian crew did a survey about what the most popular sports to watch are among high school students and staff. We guessed that football was the most popular sport to watch. The top 3 sports were soccer, football, and volleyball, along with others in a tie. Let’s see who was number one.
The first most popular sport to watch was…. football. The Crimsonian crew was correct. 24 people voted for football, and I would have to agree, it’s pretty intriguing. Let’s hear some different opinions on why football is fun to watch. First, we have Hudson Ott: “Football is very engaging and super fun to watch. GO BROWNS!” Next, Tayshawn Allen says, “ I have been around football, whether it has to be playing or watching, my entire life.” As you can probably tell, DHS has some football-loving watchers and players. It seems like football is very liked in Dover High School.
The second most popular sport to watch was…. soccer. A lot of people like to watch soccer, and 20 of them go to our school. It is very fun and high energy, but my opinion is that it’s kind of boring to watch and definitely more fun to play. Let’s begin to hear why others chose soccer first. Heidi Perez said, “Soccer is super intense and there is so much energy on who will win in the end of a hard-played game.” Soccer is an amazing sport, and many people at Dover High School agree. I definitely agree about the intense part of Heidi’s sentence. Soccer is very intense and also nerve-racking. It gets my adrenaline going miles a minute.
The third most popular sport to watch was our “Other” category. Most people chose different types of other sports; the most unique was water polo. One of my friends, Maddie Minnis, wrote, “Water polo moves so quickly, and it may look easy, but it is actually very difficult to play.” Now, my family doesn’t really know much about water polo, but I can imagine it is very hard to do because of the strength you need to have to throw a heavy ball in the water, and swimming while doing it would be extremely difficult.
To conclude, football was the most popular sport to watch on television. The least popular was lacrosse. While many sports are equally hard and challenging to do, some are just more fun to watch. Some may say football is boring and lacrosse is awesome, but some may say otherwise. As you can tell, Dover High School likes the majority of all sports. If you agree with DHS, hopefully you liked reading my article and will catch a game or match in the future.
