For several months, the popular candy brand Reese’s has been posting the color blue on their social media platforms. At the same time, Oreo began posting the color orange. After much speculation from fans of the companies, a collaboration was finally announced on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. The brands released two brand new products: a Reese’s Oreo Cup and an Oreo Reese’s Cookie, set to be available in stores beginning in September. The candy is made with rich milk chocolate and white creme peanut butter cups with Oreo cookie crumbs. The Hersheyland website states that “Cups do not contain gluten ingredients.” This means that everyone is included when it comes to tasting the collab between the #1 candy brand and #1 cookie brand. The cookie is a classic Oreo chocolate outside filled with a Reese’s peanut butter creme on the inside. Their official slogan for this collaboration is “You asked. We crushed it.” Although you may be worried about limited stock, we asked the question, is this limited time only? “Nope! REESE’S OREO® Cups are a permanent addition to the REESE’S product lineup…” Emerson and I decided to assess this product. Additionally we will be asking DHS students from each grade what they thought about this collaboration.
This is what Dylan has to say about the collab. “I would rate the Reese’s Oreo Cup a 9/10. The white chocolate is extremely strong but perfectly blends along with the other flavours. There was an immediate crunch when biting into the cup due to the Oreo pieces in the bottom layer of the masterpiece. Although the candy is remarkably sweet, it is still bearable. The peanut butter flavor is also perfectly paired with chocolate and oreo crunch. Now, to talk about the Reese’s Oreo Cookie. I was expecting a lot more compared to what it actually tasted like. It tasted like any regular old peanut butter Oreo. Nothing special but the brand name. It’s definitely lacking something to make it much better. Maybe Reese’s Pieces in the center of the cookie but I would only give the cookie a 5.5/10”
Next, here are Emerson’s thoughts. “I thought the white chocolate would be overpowering, but it’s a nice contrast to balance out the savory peanut butter. I really like the crunch from the oreo as well. With the dark chocolate Oreo, milk and white chocolate cup, and savory peanut butter, it has a lot of variety of flavors and textures. Overall I would give this a 7.5/10. I love the flavor but it is very sweet and I don’t think I could eat more than one. As for the Reese’s flavored Oreos, they are good but nothing too special. It does not taste too different from a regular peanut butter Oreo. I appreciate that it’s not too sweet; the peanut butter has the flavor of a Nutter Butter. It’s not very sugary and I think that is why I like it so much. I give it a 9/10.”
As for the opinions of the DHS students, we begin with Lily Garren. Here is what she had to say about the collaboration, “I would give the candy a 5/10. Mine didn’t have oreo in it which was not my ideal experience. I’m also glad that it was gluten free since I can’t have gluten.”
Next, we have Sydney McCabe, this is what she had to say, “The candy is really good and I would give it a 7/10, but I wish it didn’t have the white chocolate on top. I am not a huge fan of the white chocolate and I wish that it was a thin oreo on the inside instead. For the cookie I would rate it a 5.5/10, it tasted bland and kind of just like a regular Oreo. The peanut butter in the middle has a lot of room for improvement.”
Last but not least, we have Kaylie Woods. Here are her thoughts, “I would give the candy a 7/10. It was pretty good but I think the white chocolate was overpowering the rest of the candy. The Oreo crumbs in the middle were delicious. The cookie is a 6/10 because I’m not a big fan of cookies and it tasted like a regular peanut butter Oreo.”
To conclude, this collaboration was a success, however it did have its downsides. As delicious as it was, it didn’t live up to the expectations the company set during the suspense leading up to its release. The flavors were either lacking or overpowering. We would try both the cookie and the candy again, seeing as they have very unique flavors compared to that of regular Oreos and Reese’s cups. Overall, the collaboration has a bright future on shelves at stores.
