National Holidays of April

National Holidays of April

We all have a favorite holiday that’s probably either Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, or Halloween, but these are typical and basic. I feel like I never know or care about what ‘national day’ it is until someone posts it on an Instagram story. But I am here to inform you of the national days in April that I think are worth celebrating.

I’m sure you’re aware that April Fools’ Day is on the 1st, but I bet you didn’t know that it’s also National Sourdough Bread Day. Sourdough bread clearly gets taken away from the spotlight on this day, so maybe this year instead of pulling a prank on someone, you should make some bread. I want to see an attempt to make sourdough bread on everyone’s Instagram stories next month.

One of my favorite national days that I will be participating in this year is national party day on April 3rd. It does in fact fall on a Saturday during our spring break this year, so these are perfect conditions. Whether your interpretation of a party is a night to yourself or with a bunch of friends, celebrate accordingly. You can even bring the sourdough bread that you should have made a few days prior.

April 9th is National Name-Yourself-Day. This is one to get creative with. I picture everyone wearing name tags with a random name they’ve given themselves. For the whole day, you will have to refer to your friends as the name they have chosen. This is perfect for the people who don’t like their names or need a little temporary change.

April 20th, perhaps the most important day of the year, is the day Nevin Wise was born. This is not a national holiday, but it probably should be. Nevin is so amazing and deserves a lot of birthday wishes, so this is definitely one to put on your calendar. As a side note, this is also national lima bean respect day. To celebrate both holidays, you could give Nevin lima beans for his birthday! He would definitely love that gift.

In addition to Easter, you now have five more holidays to celebrate in April. Make sure to celebrate properly and tell your friends and family.
